After discovering the Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm, I really wanted to try more from Burt’s Bees. You can check out my review of the Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm here. Since I was in need of some skincare items, I decided to pick up a few from the brand while I was shopping at Target. I love the idea of using something more natural on my skin.

First up is the Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Oil. On Ulta’s website, here is what the Burt’s Bees Cleansing Oil claims:

Burt's Bees Cleansing Oil gently removes dirt and make-up, but won't leave an oily residue. Formulated with a unique combination of natural moisturizers, including Coconut and Argan oils, our cleansing oil is Dermatologist-tested and clinically shown to both cleanse and soften skin, naturally. Native to the tropics, Coconut Oil acts as a natural moisturizer that helps soften and smooth skin. Argan Oil is rich in antioxidants, and nourishes skin. Our unique blend of these natural oils gently cleanses your skin and keeps it feeling moisturized.

I first tried it by taking one pump and rubbing it all over my face and eye area, then adding some water and continuing to rub around my face. After rinsing it off, I did notice that some of my eye make-up was still there. The second time I used it, after rubbing it all over my face and eye area, I took a cotton round around my eye area. I noticed that helped get the rest of the eye make-up off without having to put a lot of effort in.

Despite the oily texture, the Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Oil rinses surprisingly well, and doesn’t leave behind any residue. My skin felt clean and soft, and not dry or tight at all. With the Argan Oil and Coconut Oils, it is very hydrating. A little bit goes a long with the stuff, you only need about a half pump for the whole face!

Since I prefer to double cleanse, I also picked up the Burt's Bees Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream. On Ulta’s website it is described as:

Gently clean and soften your skin with Burt's Bees Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream. This deep cleansing cream is formulated with natural soap bark to gently remove dirt, excess oil and makeup. Infused with chamomile and aloe to soften skin. Contains a hint of menthol, known for its cooling properties, to cool and revitalize skin. It's 99.9% natural and contains no parabens, phthalates or petrolatum. Leaves your skin looking beautiful and naturally healthy.

I really love the smell of the Burt's Bees Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream. The instructions say to wet your face and then apply the cream. This causes the cleansing cream to foam up instead of creating a layer of cream on your face. I tried it both ways: wetting my face first, and creating a layer of cream and using a wet cloth to remove it.

When you use the cleansing cream, it has a cooling effect. This threw me off at first, and I found it to be a little too strong. After I rinsed the product off, my eyes were burning and watering. I’ve since used the product, keeping away from my eyes, and noticed it doesn’t bother me as much. After using the cleansing cream, I did notice a bit of tightness from it. I have dry skin, so this may be better for those with oily skin types.

When I do use the Burt's Bees Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream, I don’t use it everyday and prefer my Ponds Cleansing Cream (my holy grail make-up remover and cleanser).

Lastly, I tried the Burt’s Bees Sensitive Daily Moisturizing Cream. Taken from Ulta’s website it Burt’s Bees claims:

Clinically shown to moisturize sensitive skin all day without causing redness or irritation, Burt's Bees Sensitive Daily Moisturizing Cream provides soothing natural skin care for sensitive skin. Rice extract and aloe moisturize and soothe your sensitive skin, while cotton extract helps replenish your skin's outer layer and protect it from potential irritants. Lightly smooth this natural face moisturizer over your face and neck after cleansing as part of your skin care routine. It is a naturally gentle way to keep even very sensitive skin feeling fresh and well hydrated.

The Burt’s Bees Sensitive Daily Moisturizing Cream smooths onto the skin easily, it didn’t feel balmy or oily at all. My skin absorbs the product very quickly. I feel like this is right on the border of not being rich enough for my dry skin. I think the formula is better suited for normal skin that doesn’t lean too much to either side, oily or dry. I did enjoy the moisturizer, and continue to use it daily. I think the price tag alone is worth it not being quite as rich as I would like. My normal moisturizer is over forty dollars.

I loved how the bottle has a pump. My normal moisturizer was a jar, and I didn’t like the idea of sticking my fingers into a jar twice a day. Pumps are so much more sanitary than jars. I really love the packaging of Burt’s Bees in general.

My sister picked up the Burt’s Bees Sensitive Facial Cleansing Towelettes, and she gave them to me when she went back home to California. On Ulta’s website it says the following:

Leave your face feeling clean and moisturized with the greatest of ease with Burt's Bees Sensitive Facial Cleansing Towelettes. These cleansing cloths are gentle on sensitive skin and removes makeup quickly and easily without rinsing. Specifically formulated for sensitive skin, these 99.1% natural wipes are formulated with cotton extract, rice extract and aloe known for their skin soothing and moisturizing properties. Gently wipe your face with towelette to remove dirt, oil and make-up. It's fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, allergy-tested and dermatologist-tested. Plus, it's FSC certified cloth. Use them as part of the Burt's Bees Sensitive skin care regimen. Give your skin the best nature has to offer with Burt's Bees.

I tried them out, but unfortunately I didn’t think they were as good as other make-up remover wipes on the market. The towelettes themselves were thick and a little more on the dryer side, as if they didn’t have enough product on them. I felt like I had to scrub more, which started to sting after a while. Although they did remove all of my make-up, they left my skin feeling very tight and dry.

I don’t have particularly sensitive skin, although I have noticed some redness more and more on my cheeks. Both my sister and mom have more sensitive skin than I do. I always gravitate more towards sensitive skin products as a way of covering my bases, in case their is an ingredient I didn’t know irritates me.
