Autumn Home Picks

Sunday, October 7, 2018

We plan on moving next year, so this year I have been really focused on buying pieces that I really like and will look amazing in our new house. Anything that doesn’t seem right or I really didn’t like in the first place is being donated as we replace the items. Along with this, I have been organizing and decluttering every room of our current house. I’ve been getting rid of everything we don’t need and then cleaning and organizing what we have decided to keep. Every time I think I’m done, I end up starting over, section by section.

Last time I did one of these, I said that I had only just begun to get a sense of my home-style and was excited to start decorating. I have picked up a few new pieces of furniture. We got our bed off the floor and bough a simple modern metal bed frame on Amazon (pictured below, taken from Amazon), if your interested you can find it here.

Little baskets and bins have been my lifesaver. I’ve particularly been obsessed with the Ikea Skubb Storage Case (pictured below, taken from Ikea). I bought two of the medium and one small. I love that they just slide under the bed and can’t really be seen. I keep extra linens and seasonal linens in them. You can order them online from Ikea (Small, Medium) or pick them up in the store. If you don’t have an Ikea near you, they sell them on Amazon (Small, Medium) in a two pack!

Target has been really using their game in the last couple years. I feel like they are trying harder to come out with good quality items that are still trendy. I love their new lines Project 62 and Made By Design, as well as their collaborations Hearth & Hand with Magnolia and Cravings by Chrissy Teigen.

I love all the brown and yellow tones this year. There are some really great Autumn decor pieces out right now. I love the look of a Eucalyptus wreath, like this one from West Elm with Stacked Pumpkins outside a front door. This season I am preferring diffusing oils to burning candles. I’m not buying new candles, and lets be honest nothing with replace Bath & Body Works Leaves Candle. Oils such as Orange and Clove are perfect for the Autumn season.

I love finding more and more pieces that not only work where we currently live, but also in the new place. I can picture how everything will look together in our new house and I can’t wait to find new pieces. Shop the items I mentioned and more below!

Eye Doctor Moisture Care | Origins

Sunday, September 30, 2018

Overall, My skin has been drier than normal. I have been getting dry/dehydrated patches on my forehead and around my nose. I have also notice that my eyes have been dryer as well. Concealer isn’t going on as smooth as it used to. I went on the hunt for an eye cream that was strictly for moisturizing. I didn’t want to worry about anti-aging or anything until I fixed the dryness, if it had anti-aging that was a bonus. I also wanted something that was more on the cleaner side, no harsh chemicals and as natural as possible. Natural products are more important to me when it comes to my eye area than any other part of my face.

After reading a ton of reviews, I decided to try the Origins Eye Doctor Moisture Care. I placed an order at Sephora, and eagerly awaited my new eye cream. The Origins Eye Doctor Moisture Care eye cream claims to counter crow’s feet, de-pouf puffs, and fade dark shadows. Formulated with Cucumber, Rosemary, and Ginseng to cool, sooth, and energize around the eyes. It also has Green tea extract to help fight off free radical damage. The Origins Eye Doctor has the Clean at Sephora seal.

The Clean at Sephora seal means that products are formulated without: “Sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, Triclosan, Triclocarban. All skincare, hair, and makeup brands with the Clean Seal have less than one percent of synthetic fragrances.” — quoted directly on Sephora’s website.

I wanted to give the product a proper trial, so I waited until I finished the pot. My eyes were a lot less dry while using the Origins Eye Doctor, and I noticed my makeup going on smoother. While the Origins claimed it also countered crow’s feet, de-poufs and fades dark shadows, that wasn’t a deciding factor for me. I don’t have puffy under-eyes, so I can’t say if it made a difference there. However, I did notice some changes in the dark shadows under my eyes. Since I have run out of the product, the area around my eye is beginning to become dry again, I am definitely going to order more!

Top 4 New Beauty Additions

Sunday, September 9, 2018

I recently picked up some new products. I have had the chance to try them out and I am really loving them so far. While these are my top products out of all the ones I've tried lately, I did decide to do a top 4 instead of a top 5 because of how well they all go together. I don't know how it happened, but my favorites are all different shades of green!

Gourmand EDP Fragrance in 'The Matcha': I picked this up on a whim in Urban Outfitters. I don't remember what I went in for, only that I couldn't find it. I fell in love with the bottles of these fragrances when I first saw them. I wanted to like a scent so bad and as I was smelling them I was getting bummed that none of them seemed like my kind of fragrance. Until I picked up 'The Matcha', with notes of green tea, freesia, and amber, it is the perfect all round fragrance for me!

MARIO BADESCU Special Hand Cream with Vitamin E: I have the driest hands ever. No matter what I do, they are always insanely dry. I knew I wanted a new hand cream that had Vitamin E in it, so I picked up this one to try. It not only has the Vitamin E I was looking for, but it also is packed full of antioxidants and Vitamin A.  I'm really loving it so far. I think it could be a bit more moisturizing, but it works for me for now.

Briogeo Be Gentle, Be Kind Matcha + Apple Replenishing Superfood Shampoo and Kale + Apple Replenishing Superfood Conditioner: I found these when looking through the 'Clean at Sephora' section. I wanted something a bit better for my hair and something without a bunch of chemicals. The shampoo doesn't lather as much as I would like, but the smell makes up for it. The shampoo is packed with matcha and apple to help nourish your hair without stripping it. For the conditioner, I noticed a little bit goes a lot further than the shampoo. The conditioner has kale and apple to nourish and hydrate.

Glossier | Brand Review

Sunday, July 1, 2018

I finally got around to picking up some Glossier products. I only picked up a few items to get a feel for the brand, but I do plan on doing another haul soon! Glossier seem to get really big, really fast, and came out of nowhere. They seemed to have so much hype right from the beginning. Glossier is more of a natural-looking everyday makeup brand, which fits right in with the way I like to do my makeup.

Recent Empties

Sunday, May 6, 2018

I’ve always wanted to do an empties post, but I kept forgetting to save some of my empty products. When I finally did get around to saving some, I had these empties under my sink for months! I kept meaning to do an empties post, but I just kept forgetting. I have already been accumulating some products for my next round of empties.

12 Things

We took a little drive through part of Tonto National Forest. It was hard finding spots to pull over and get the camera out, but here are some photos I managed to get!

Hello, 2018.

Sunday, January 14, 2018

2017 was a hard year for me. I feel like it started out great. I did a little reset at the beginning of the year. I wouldn’t call it a diet, but I cut out everything that wasn’t that great for me. I also started working out a couple times a week.

In May 2017, I broke my ankle. I’ve only broken bones once before. When I was taking dance classes in High School at a local company. We were instructed to jump off the stage at the end of the song and keep dancing down the aisles. I knew the second I hit the ground, I broke something. I broke three metatarsals in my left foot. This time was different. I stumbled off a curb and heard a crack, yet was in denial. I kept thinking, no it’s just a sprain. I went home, laid on the couch, and a few hours later I knew I needed to go to the hospital.
